About Ben

Ben is the Partner in charge of Carter Newell’s Melbourne office.

As an accredited specialist in commercial litigation and with more than 20 years practicing as a litigation and insurance lawyer, Ben’s experience and expertise is extensive.

His insurance law expertise extends to various policies, including professional indemnity, directors’ and officers’, management liability, medical malpractice, and public and product liability. Ben manages and defends claims under these policies. He also provides coverage advice and acts as coverage counsel.

Ben has acted for a wide range of professions and organisations, including public and private hospitals, allied health professionals, construction professionals, accountants, financial advisors, brokers, real estate agents, and legal practitioners.

Taking an active role in both the insurance industry and legal profession, Ben contributes to the Victorian committee of the Australian Professional Indemnity Group (APIG) as well as the Law Institute of Victoria’s Commercial Litigation Advisory Committee. He is also a member of the Australian Insurance Law Association (AILA) and the Building Dispute Practitioners’ Society.
